It's my 3rd Second Birthday already

Oh my how time flies! I didn't realize that today was my second birthday until my mom reminded me. I always like to use this day as a time to reflect on how far I have come and to celebrate life.

Three years ago today my life changed forever and, in my opinion, changed for the better. I am now the person I always wanted to be and I love it! I am at a place in my life where I feel great and love what I am doing and where I am at. Western is a beautiful place and I love being here.

I can't believe that I have been at college for just over a month, it seems like forever (in a good way). Time flies here faster than it has ever flown before. We are already more than half way through the quarter and classes are shifting into high gear. While there is lots of work, I have also had lots of fun: making new friends, movie nights, going to see the Dead Parrots Society improve shows, and exploring Bellingham.

Life has changed to much in the past year and I can't wait to see what this year brings!

Have a fantastic Halloween!

The Next Step

It has been an exciting week! On Sunday I moved in to my dorm at Western Washington University and today was the first day of classes. Each day I become more familiar with the campus and discover something else I love about it. From the 100 year old buildings, to the beautiful trees, to the gorgeous sunsets over Bellingham bay. I feel good being here, like this is the place I should be. I am very excited for this year and look forward to discovering new things about myself.

The End is Just a New Beginning

It has been far too long since I posted on my blog. Senior year has been crazy busy right up until graduation last weekend. I was chosen by the staff of Jackson High School to speak at graduation and I wanted to share my speech with you.

In the time since my last post, so much has happened.
I was accepted to Western Washington University where I will be pursuing a degree in Psychology. I  went to Orlando, along with 30 other  Sunshine Kids to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of that wonderful organization . I ran the light board and Brandon ran the spotlight for my community theater's production of How to Succeed in Business  Without Really Trying and we saw the show on Broadway when we were in New York for spring break . After spring break the countdown to graduation began. I completed my senior project, attended numerous senior events and award ceremonies, danced the night away with my friends at prom, and received a standing ovation from the entire school when I was awarded a staff scholarship at the senior recognition assembly. Since I returned to school, I have often felt invisible, but in that moment I knew that people had noticed my struggle to Get Back to Life.

Thank you all for the love and support you have shown me over the past few years.

Sammy
